Target announces big changes to Target Circle program, and more

I can’t say I’m surprised, friends. The Target Circle program has been a favorite of mine for years, but it was poised for something big and - in the wave of popularity for Amazon Prime and Walmart+ memberships - something new. With this week’s new announcement from Target Corporate, it seems like the time has come.

Let’s break down the three big takeaways from the changes to the Target Circle program…

Announcement 1: Target Circle is becoming three, different memberships

Target Circle will introduce three new membership levels:

  • The first tier - Target Circle is a free membership option, with personalized deals based on your shopping habits and existing promotions. What’s new: Deals will now be applied automatically at checkout (no more having to search or opt-in for individual offers!).

  • The second tier - Target Circle Card provides a 5% discount on purchases (previously Target RedCard), extended return time for items, free two-day shipping on items at Target.com, and all Circle benefits.

  • The third tier - Target Circle 360 is an annual membership that includes unlimited same-day delivery, free 2-day shipping, an extra 30 days for returns, and the ability to deliver gifts to your own or a friend's door. Launch price is $49/year until 5/18, and it also comes with Target Circle benefits.

Announcement 2: New brand launches are coming

Target is bringing new value to its customers in 2024 by launching and expanding its own brands, including:

  • dealworthy: A brand with great value on nearly 400 everyday basics across various categories, all starting under $10.

  • upup (a relaunched version of the former up&up brand): Will offer an extensive range of essentials in personal care, health, pet care, storage, and more.

  • Gigglescape: A toy brand “to spark joy and imagination” with an assortment of plush toys, books, and games.

Announcement 3: Enhanced stores and supply chain investments

Target is dedicating 2024 to improving its online and in-store shopping experiences. They plan to build 300+ new stores, remodel existing locations, and add more Ulta Beauty locations (praise be!).

Additionally, Target is committed to strengthening their supply chain operations to enhance speed, capacity, and next-day delivery options.

These exciting changes kickoff April 7th, and are just the beginning to the fun we’re hearing from Target in 2024. Which are you most excited for? Weigh in here.
