It seems like there has been an explosion of parenting pros on Instagram lately. There's something about getting parenting tips that makes scrolling feel more productive. In honor of Black History Month, we’re highlighting our fav Black mamas offering actionable advice around parenting, mental health, and self-care.

Dr. Traci Baxley

Professor and Author of Social Justice Parenting

Dr. Traci Baxley, founder of Social Justice Parenting, is a dedicated mother, coach, and educator! With over two decades of experience and a passion for social justice, Traci empowers parents to create safe spaces of belonging for their children through heart-centered coaching sessions.



Why we love her: Traci’s expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion, combined with her unwavering commitment to radical love, make her a catalyst for change in families, organizations, and communities! She is such a breath of fresh air and so inspiring!



Charisse Sims

Author of Say Their Names

Mom of six, entrepreneur, podcaster, author, and co-founder: Charisse wears ALL the hats! On her personal IG you’ll find funny clips on parenting, motivation to get you through a tough day, and adorable pics and videos of her family life.

Why we love her: Her knack for innovative community work is evident in everything she does. Prime example: the nonprofit she co-founded, Sims Library of Poetry, is California’s first black-owned poetry library. Another can’t miss is her podcast Parenting for the Culture, a treasure trove of actionable parenting advice (with a five-star rating on Apple podcasts)!



Destini Ann

Certified Parenting Coach

Destini is a mom of two who shares easy-to-digest gentle parenting tips and tricks on IG and parenting classes through her website. She has been cultivating her connection-based approach to parenting for over 10 years and has made it her passion to support stressed-out parents in transforming their families. Good news for mamas who prefer reading over social: She released her first book, Very Intentional Parenting, in August of 2022.

With over 10 years of experience in pediatric neurology, Dr. DS has been rocking the medical world with her patient-centered care, and she's done it all in both academic and private practice settings. Not only has she successfully started and grown new service lines, but she's also a true leader and mentor, always striving to improve the quality of patient care.

Kristina is an Indy-area writer and mom of two. As a copywriter, she uses her writing skills to support small businesses.
