Fall Fashion

The kids are in school, pumpkin spice lattes are back and fall is right around the corner! Fall fashion is my absolute favorite as there are so many great opportunities to layer your wardrobe. I have so much fun in the fall, mixing and matching in my closet…throwing on a cozy cardigan, laying a pattered blouse under a sweater, or topping off my outfit with a chunky plaid scarf.

There are so many fun new fashion trends this fall, I had a hard time narrowing them down. Here are five fall fashion trends that for you to try, along with some suggestions of pieces you can add to your wardrobe:

1. Boy Meets Girl

Menswear-inspired prints were all over the runways this fall. Lots of patterns typically seen in men’s suiting and ties are being reimagined in feminine silhouettes. Try adding a light airy blouse in a foulard print to your wardrobe this fall. Top it off with a houndstooth blazer in a slim feminine cut.

Also, the oxford shoe is back! Patent leather oxfords look great with a chic cigarette pant! Pair suede oxfords with a rolled-cuff boyfriend jean for a hip, relaxed look.

2. Boho

The boho trend is here to stay it seems. For fall, we are seeing long-sleeved floral dresses in soft muted autumn colors. Long sleeved peasant blouses are also a big trend this fall and the long bell sleeve is back. For accessories, look for big floppy hats and fringed boots.

3. Military Inspired

Military inspired fashion is everywhere this fall. The ubiquitous utility jacket is still a great choice and looks sharp paired with fall florals and even bold stripes. A utility pant is a great choice with a floaty floral top and a chunky cabled sweater.

Camo is a great neutral to pair with other patterns. We are even seeing camo in fun new colorways.

Finally, a military style blazer, updated with some girlish touches, is a great piece for the office and can be dressed down for the weekend or up for date night.

4. Animal Print

Animal skin prints are my favorite neutrals. No really. They go with just about everything and add a fun pop of color and style. If you are not totally comfortable with this trends, start small, with a ballet flat or scarf. Or go all out in an animal print shift dress or coat. Animal prints are a great way to have fun with your wardrobe!

5. Midi Boots

While my beloved tall boots and “shooties” aren’t going anywhere, I am loving the new mid-calf boot. They look great paired with a shift dress and tights. You can also tuck your skinnies into them or do a big messy roll with your boyfriends and show a little ankle. A chunky combat boot style looks great paired with a floral boho dress (hello ‘90’s!)
